About Joe Okonkwo
Joe Okonkwo is a cum laude graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in theatre. He made his living in theatre for a number of years asJoe Okonkwo an actor, stage manager, director, playwright and youth theatre instructor. His poems have appeared in a variety of print and online venues including Van Gogh's Ear, Anthology Magazine, Priapus magazine, timbooktu.com, queerpoets.com and poetism.com. His self-published poetry book, Milk Chocolate/Naked Moon, received rave reviews in Gay City News. His play, The Adventures of That Brotherman, was workshopped by Edward Albee and his stage adaptation of the classic children's book, A Wrinkle in Time, was produced by Main Street Theater in Houston.

His short story "Jazz Moon" was featured in the anthology Best Gay Love Stories 2009. He is currently expanding this story into a full-length novel.

Joe's interviews with opera stars such as Jane Eaglen, Samuel Ramey and Susan Graham have appeared in High Notes, the e-newsletter of The Metropolitan Opera.

He is a proud resident of the New York City borough of Queens and a candidate in the graduate program in Creative Writing at City College of New York.
